Through a series of design examples, the course explores the behavior of base plates subjected to axial loads, shear forces, and moments, and examines methods for designing simple and moment-resisting base connections.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eTopics include load and resistance calculations for ungrouted base connections, shear resistance of grouted connections, and the design of grouted base plates for both small and large moments. Participants will also review common base plate configurations, detailing best practices, and the application of various design methodologies, including the equivalent cantilever, yield line, and effective width methods.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003eThe advantages and limitations of each approach are discussed to support sound engineering judgment and efficient design.
