Session 2 - 0.2 CEU

Duration: 2 h 5 min

This is the second session of a two-part webinar.

This course was specifically designed for new engineering graduates coming into the industry or those engineers getting back into steel structure design after a prolonged period of time.

Students will be introduced to basic principles of the finite element method and the types of frame analyses which can be performed. Relevant standard and code clauses will be presented to aid in the navigation of the modelling, analysis, and design processes. In some instances, references will be provided to other CISC courses or publications that are deemed valuable for steel design.

Session 2 will provide an introduction to:

Section 5 - Results and Verification

· Error Types

· Mitigating Errors

· Model Validation

Section 6 – Design and Optimization

· Considerations for Gravity System

· Considerations for Lateral Load Resisting Systems

· Design Optimization

Section 7 S16:19 Considerations

· Analysis Method

· Structural Stability

Section 8 – NBC 2020 Considerations

· Wind loads

· Seismic Loads

· Dynamic Analysis

Section 9 – Other Considerations

· Building Information Modelling (BIM)

· Carbon Impact

Eligibility for CEUs

CEUs will be issued for this webinar to participants that meet the following criteria:

  1. Participant must attend at least 75% of the webinar
  2. CEUs are only eligible for a participant with a 90% attention rating. In order to maximize your rating the webinar must be full screen. Working on other things while the webinar is running (i.e. not full attention) minimizes your attention rating. The webinar platform automatically tracks your rating.
  3. CEUs are issued to the registered contact person only (person with assigned seat)

Notes

    1. Upon your purchase, you will receive an email to register course participant seat(s). Assignment of your seat is necessary for course registration, a necessary step, even if you have purchased only one. Please check your junk folder if not in your inbox. An email for course material downloads (if applicable), will be provided after checkout.
