Dissecting a Diaphragm
Please note that this recording is from an earlier date.
Webinar - 0.075 CEU
Duration: 51 m
Presented by Thomas Sputo, Ph.D., Technical Director at Steel Deck Institute
The inner workings of a steel deck diaphragm may seem to be baffling to some, and blind reliance on published strength and stiffness tables often becomes the mode of operation. Rather than this blind reliance, understanding exactly what are the variables that control the strength and stiffness of both bare deck and concrete filled diaphragms can make you a better, more knowledgeable designer.
This presentation, based upon the ANSI/SDI AISI S310 North American Standard for the Design of Profiled Steel Diaphragm Panels will be long on understanding the engineering mechanics and short on numbers and high-level theory.
