Webinar  - 0.1 CEU

Duration: 1 hr 7 m

Presented by Andy Metten, P.Eng.

Designing floor beams is one of the most common tasks in steel floor system design. These beams are typically laterally restrained and simply supported. However, determining the loads on floor beams and designing them for safety, serviceability and efficiency is a topic often underemphasized in many engineering programs. Achieving an optimal design requires balancing both material usage and design time. This presentation will demonstrate how the CISC Handbook tables can be leveraged to enhance both safety and efficiency.

Laying out steel framing for a project is both a rewarding and intellectually engaging process. The strategic arrangement of structural members plays a critical role in the overall cost-effectiveness and construction speed of a project. Through practical examples, this session will guide you through the conceptual phase of steel framing design and illustrate how thoughtful planning leads to a refined floor system.

Eligibility for CEUs

CEUs will be issued for this webinar to participants that meet the following criteria:

  1. Participant must attend at least 75% of the webinar
  2. CEUs are only eligible for a participant with a 90% attention rating. In order to maximize your rating the webinar must be full screen. Working on other things while the webinar is running (i.e. not full attention) minimizes your attention rating. The webinar platform automatically tracks your rating.
  3. CEUs are issued to the registered contact person only (person with assigned seat)
