Introduction to Modelling and Analysis of Steel Frame Structures Session 1 & 2
Session 1 & 2 - 0.4 CEU
Duration: 4 h 15 min
The purpose of this course is to develop the students' skills necessary for the modelling, analysis, and design of steel frame structures using the finite element method (FEM) in accordance with the requirements of CSA S16:19 and the 2020 National Building Code (NBC) of Canada. This course introduces students to the relevant terminology and background information necessary to competently perform computer-based steel frame structural design.
Students will be introduced to basic principles of the finite element method and the types of frame analyses which can be performed. Relevant standard and code clauses will be presented to aid in the navigation of the modelling, analysis, and design processes. In some instances, references will be provided to other CISC courses or publications that are deemed valuable for steel design.
This course was specifically designed for new engineering graduates coming into the industry or those engineers getting back into steel structure design after a prolonged period of time.

Eligibility for CEUs
CEUs will be issued for this webinar to participants that meet the following criteria:
- Participant must attend at least 75% of the webinar
- CEUs are only eligible for a participant with a 90% attention rating. In order to maximize your rating the webinar must be full screen. Working on other things while the webinar is running (i.e. not full attention) minimizes your attention rating. The webinar platform automatically tracks your rating.
- CEUs are issued to the registered contact person only (person with assigned seat)
Notes
- Upon your purchase, you will receive an email to register course participant seat(s). Assignment of your seat is necessary for course registration, a necessary step, even if you have purchased only one. Please check your junk folder if not in your inbox. An email for course material downloads (if applicable), will be provided after checkout.
- This webinar does not include any handouts.
- Courses are non-refundable. Once you begin the course, you will have 90 days to complete it.
