This is an excerpt from the CISC Connections 2 course. The purpose of the Connections 2 course is to develop the students' skills necessary for the design of solid and safe steel connections. This course introduces students to a terminology specific to their specialty by defining the basic concepts and the units of measure.

Students will be introduced to basic design principles. They will use these design principles to solve simple and complex problems. They will also understand the origin of the rules and standards used in the industry.

The excerpt of the course is intended to allow designers to take selective courses that address specific topics relevant to their projects. This presentation consists of both a discussion of theory, practicality, several examples and will cover the following:
